About
The EdizioneCodiceCivile aims to collect and make accessible, in a single digital platform, the sources related to the preparatory works and, more broadly, to the normative development of the Italian Civil Code. Its goal is to provide the academic community and the interested public with a research and reference tool that allows for the tracing of the evolution of Italian civil legislation, from the pre-unification civil codes, through the Civil code of the Kingdom of Italy of 1865, up to the current Civil Code of 1942.
At present, the EdizioneCodiceCivile is available only in a preliminary form. While awaiting a broader scientific direction, individual documents and materials will be made available gradually. Nevertheless, it is hoped that even in its current stage, the Edition will already offer added value and serve as an initial point of reference for scholars and researchers.
Most of the texts collected so far have been transcribed using automatic recognition tools. These transcriptions, not yet manually revised, should therefore be regarded as a starting point for further study and research. The main purpose of the initiative is to facilitate access to and comparison among different editions and normative versions, thereby creating a platform that can serve as both a support and a stimulus for further legal-historical research projects.
